ODYSSEE DE L'AMOUR; L'
1 x 90 '
Synopsis
By the award winning producers of ‘A Species’ Odyssey’ and ‘Life Before Life’.
Combine a romantic comedy with a scientific look at the inner workings of our hearts and hormones and what do you get? The first ever docu-comedy – a true labor of love! Think Bridget Jones meets Robert Winston. Or Sex and the City under a microscope.
Juliet is a thirty-something singleton in Paris. Here in the world’s most romantic city, the inevitable happens: she falls head over leopard-print Blahnik open-toe heels in love. But the object of her newfound desire is not her goodcatch fiancé. It’s the romantic American musician who just moved in upstairs.
What follows is 2/3 Ally McBeal and 1/3 Fantastic Journey. As Juliet stumbles through the ups and downs of love, we observe the effect on her body from the inside out. Lust, infidelity, jealousy, betrayal… we reveal all the neurobiological effects of the twists and turns of love.
Using endoscopic cameras, optical fibre, 3D computer-generated animation and a whole arsenal of medical scanning techniques, we observe the incredible mechanisms of the human body in response to a uniquely human phenomenon.
Transitions between the two worlds – the inner and outer Juliet – are well justified and cleverly scripted. Voiceovers from a scientific character attempt to apply the laws of reason to a thoroughly irrational passion.
