Synopsis
At the French Revolution, Paris was a mediaeval city.A hundred years later is was the model modern city, the yardstick by which other European cities were judged.The man primarily responsible for this was Baron Haussman. He remodelled Paris, creating the great boulevards which cut through the city.With the help of architectural historian Francis Loyer, this film examines Haussman's achievement.Examining the often overlooked details of his architectural planning it shows the scale of his work and how it revolutionised living standards in the city.
