ADIEU DE GAULLE, ADIEU
1x90'
Synopsis
May 1968. Paris. Student protests turn violent and threaten to topple the government. An aging General De Gaulle faces opposition on every front. With just a handful of his closest aides, the beleaguered president boards a helicopter. Destination: unknown.
The government is in crisis. The Prime Minister is pressed to turn against the missing President. On his return, we learn that De Gaulle had flown to Baden-Baden to meet with his military commander. The next day, he makes a defiant radio address, refusing to resign and dissolving the National Assembly. He has regained the upper hand… for now.
To this day, the clandestine journey remains a mysterious episode in the life of the great war hero. Was it merely a political tactic? Or fear of an attack on the Elysée Palace? This absorbing drama recreates these turbulent days to shed light on the man behind the uniform.
Based on a book by Hervé Bentégeat (“La fuite à Baden”)
