AFRICAN SWING
1 x 52 '
Synopsis
Musician and Singer, Momo Wandel, born in 1926, crossed all the contemporary history of Black Africa. From the colonial time with its
orchestras playing only for the balls reserved for white people until the arrival of independence in 1958, when he found himself "pressganged" for 26 years in the national orchestra of the Guinean revolution... Momo thus waited a long time before being able, finally, to create its own music. A music which recalls blues and jazz never not to forget their African roots... For that, Momo had chosen to replace the instruments of jazz by African traditional instruments, will kora, balaphon, pastorale flute, bolon, djembe, and to entrust them to their Masters residing in Guinea. Based on traditional songs, Momo and his musicians could, fly away freely in their improvisations.
