WOMEN OF JUSTICE
5 x 52 '
Synopsis
They are detectives, judges, forensic specialists and medical examiners. Every day they fight crime, they fight to keep us safe, and they fight for their places in a man’s world.
From California to Sicily, meet the women of justice: five extraordinary law enforcers who rejected more traditional choices to work in a shadow world of crime and violence. Outnumbered by their male counterparts, each excels in her chosen field and belongs to an elite crime-fighting force.
The Judge: Laura Vaccaro is an anti-mafia judge in Sicily. Undaunted by the murders of her colleagues, she sent Cosa Nostra chief Bernardo Provenzano to prison for life.
The Drug Agent: Janel Iskenderian is on the front line of the war on drugs. As a special agent in Fresno, California, she battles the Mexican mafia in America’s methamphetamine capital.
The Forensic Scientist: Celine Nicloux is truly on the cutting edge. Working in an elite French police institute, she studies bloodstain patterns as clues and evidence in criminal investigations.
The Medical Examiner: Sophie Gromb is chief medical examiner in Bordeaux, France – and a character straight out of a film script. Her job allows her “to comfort families and send the bastards to prison.”
The Chief Detective: Judicaële Ruby is head of criminal investigations in France’s second largest city, Lyons. Five months pregnant, she faces a daily dose of murder, violence and armed robbery.
