Synopsis
Arthur Schnitzler deals with topics such as love, madness and death revealing human nature and destiny. In order to save her father from ruin and dishonour, Else’s mother asks her to beg a huge amount of money to an old friend of the family. He agrees against a ‘rendez-vous’. She first refuses, then troubled by obscure desires she accepts.
This story suggests the climate and living manners of Vienna after World War I.
