FARC: SIX YEARS IN THE JUNGLE OF COLOMBIA
1 x 52 '
Synopsis
Ingrid Betancourt is the symbolic victim of one of the modern world's longest-running civil wars. The FARC guerrillas operating in the Colombian jungle have been fighting the government for 40 years.
Ingrid Betancourt has been in their hands for the past 6, trapped between the rock of the government and the hard place of the rebels.
The recent liberation of two hostages – Claire Rojas, former campaign director for Ingrid Betancourt, and ex-Senator Consuelo Gonzales – has given new impetus to the dispute over the fate of the other FARC-held hostages.
In the wake of a first investigation, "Colombia, the Country of 30,000 Hostages", this documentary strives to understand the stakes involved and the state of current negotiations in the unusual political game being played out mainly by the presidents of Colombia and Venezuela, Alvaro Uribe and Hugo Chavez.
