CARLOTTA IKEDA
1 x 52 '
Synopsis
The film is a 52 minutes documentary in immersion, encounter of a creator and a director.
The project unravels over 6 months, from the first rehearsal of “Zatoïchi” to the general rehearsal of “Uchuu Cabaret” at the opening of the XXXth Festival “Les Hivernales” – Hall Benoît XII in the city of Avignon. It ends as the curtain opens.
It is Carlotta’s insight, through a subjective shot, on her dancing, her culture, her encounter with the city of Bordeaux, with the Occident.
We will follow the creations day by day, in the Chartrons’ studio, at the Grand-Théâtre and in Avignon. Through the set up, the lighting creation, within the immediate proximity of the choreographer, we will assist to the emergence of this encounter of the Nippon culture and the gilts of the magnificent Opéra National de Bordeaux and the overwhelming austerity of Benoît XII “Palais vieux”.
We will alternate between shots of rehearsals, shots behind the scenes, shots of the actors’ preparation. These images will give the rhythm to the film, it will portray its temporality.
In order to provide some perspectives, we will also insert interviews of personalities such as Charles Jude, the Opera Ballet’s director, and Rosita Boisseau of the newspaper Le Monde, who has closely followed Carlotta Ikeda’s career for many years.
