EVERYONE ON-LINE: the French and the internet
1 x 52 '
Synopsis
This film is devoted to the way in which the French have–or have not–taken to this breaking technological wave. It might even be compared to a genuine tsunami that is going to change everything in our daily lives, e.g. business, medicine, teaching and advertising. Also our ways of living, working and thinking. When we are in cyberspace, where are we exactly?
Everywhere and nowhere. The notion of time and place with which we grew up is being scrambled. From the moment when, with a simple click, we make instantaneous contact with some unknown surfer on the other side of the world without even knowing his or her country, we are in cyberspace.
Compared to other Europeans, the French are rather in the forefront with the quickness and enthusiasm they have shown in subscribing to high-speed broad-band connections. There are nearly 15 million of them. But at the same time some 50% of our fellow citizens have never even turned on a computer. Will they be the ones left behind in the 21st century?
