MUTTUR: a crime against humanitarians
1 x 52 '
Synopsis
August 6th, 2006: 17 people working for the French humanitarian NGO, Action Contre la Faim, were found dead at their base in Muttur in eastern Sri Lanka. 13 men, 4 women, 16 Tamils and one Muslim woman. 17 cold-blooded murders, each with a bullet in the head. It should have outraged the world. It was the first time that so many humanitarian workers were killed in such a way. Yet six months after the fact, nothing new. There was little media reaction. As yet there have not been any diplomatic sanctions imposed. Families of the victims are living under pressure. They have all requested asylum in western countries, but nothing has happened. On site in Sri Lanka, in India where some of the families have fled to and in Sweden where the only diplomat to have made fuss is now living, this film tries to shed some light on the massacre and lift the veil of so much indifference.
