Synopsis

Zhang Yimou, director of the film Raise the Red Lantern, which won the Silver Lion in
Venice in 1991, has adapted his screenplay for ballet from the novel by Su Tong.
He directed the show and designed the lighting, creating remarkable dramatic intensity.
This documentary gives us a close look at the directing of this magnificent, original
ballet which builds a bridge between China and the West.
