Synopsis

The 32 Beethoven piano sonatas form one of the most important collections of works in the history of Western music, possessing a vitality that continually affirms their place among the most popular works in the entire piano literature.
Through the filming of Barenboim's live performances at the Berlin Deutsche Staatsoper in June/July 2005 (one of the world's most beautiful opera houses), Masterclasses, and interviews, the series will offer a rare and privileged insight into Barenboim's musical thinking in action and his interpretation of Beethoven.
