DILO (OKACH)
1 x 23 '
Synopsis
Like an African griot, who changes the pattern of his stories each time he tells them, Opiyo Okach improvises and re-creates the world of eastern Africa's nomadic peoples and re-invents their stone-age mythologies. Each performance is a new version in symbiosis with the moment, the place and the audience.
The starting point of this creation is Kit Jajuok, a legendary rock constituting a central pillar of Luo mythology (Okach's ethnic group). The Jajuok (soothsayer) is a specialist in intuitive perception, the search for causes, remedies and predicting social and individual events. The Jajuok is also linked with the great god, wild witches, healers, seers and the ancestral spirits of a tribe or an individual.
