Synopsis

Having passed his baccalaureate, Lucas Danjou, aged 19, tells his parents that he wants to go to Paris to prepare the entrance exam to art college. His parents refuse as they are counting on him to take over the bar and tobacconist's shop they have run for the past twenty years in their village in Burgundy. What's more, they think that his sudden artistic calling is a whim which is incompatible with having a stable professional future. Lucas, who is still too immature and lacking in confidence to stand up to his father, seems to resign himself to the situation. But his passion prevails, and he sneaks away to prepare the exams, having 'borrowed' 400 euros out of his parents' cash register.
