Synopsis
The ballet "La Bayadre" is set in legendary India and tells a story of love, betrayal, murder and mayhem.Makarova's spectacular production for the Royal Ballet features a strong cast which includes Irek Mukhamedov, Kirov star Altynai Asylmuratova and the leading dancer of the Royal Ballet, Darcey Bussell."La Bayadre" is a marvellous example of classical dancing on a grand scale, and features one of the most famous scenes in ballet, the fabulous "Kingdom of the Shades", which involves the corps de ballet in a magnificent sequence of arabesques penches.
