JOAN MIRO
1 x 48 '
Synopsis
The work of the Catalan painter Joan Miro is usually associated with surrealism, which he encountered in the intellectual and artistic ferment of Paris in the 1920s. In fact his art soon moved towards increasing abstraction, as well as taking on a political dimension, especially around the time of the Spanish Civil War when he left Catalonia to settle in Paris. In this evocative film we discover Miro's artistic development through an approach to his work: enticing glimpses of details open up to whole canvasses, while the commentary similarly constructs a complete life from its details, augmented by quotations from Miro.
